Life is a journey which we begin at birth. Each of us begin our journey in a particular place and time but we all travel on the road called life which is a gift from God. On this journey each day we learn something/s hopefully including some wisdom which brings us happiness, joy and peace.

10th
Today marks ten years of our marriage. Has it been that long? Ten years ago today, there were lots of people with us: Will's family from all over the country; and Run; and my friends from both coasts of the country. All the people of Overbrook acted as my family. My favorite part of that day was - the children dressed in their Sunday best eating and smearing themselves with the chocolate part of our wedding cake - just the way I had always imagined. The mothers holding their tongues to avoid stopping the children from running and eating cake like that. I remember the youth, dressed in their best attire, ushering in the guests.
Then, just as we came out of the sanctuary the girls lifting the hem of my wedding gown to see how I got so much taller that day - laughing at my very high-healed canvas shoes. I also remember showing up at the church in my flannel shirt and blue jeans, and I remember Sarah Shaffer trying to paint my face. However does any one turn a tom-boy into a feminine looking bride - but Sarah did. When she was finished with me, I looked into a mirror and wondered who was that beautiful bride in the mirror. It took 4 of them to put the dress on me and turn me into looking the way I was supposed to look. It was a good day.
We remembered Dad unable to find the wedding prayer because he was sitting on it and our giggles as the family hymn went for many verses and the wedding party had to stand in silence because some thoughtful soul had "cleaned up" the bulletins we had placed there for our use. We remembered the too many clergy involved from the two of us to Dad, brother James and friend Paisley and Roger and Bill. We remembered the endless receiving line that made us so late we missed almost all the reception. We remembered nephew Doug gentle and helpful. We remembered the family who weren't able to be present.
I remember my best friend Bridget flying over all the way from Seattle to stand next to me my wedding along with Sue Mooney, June Hinkle and Sarah Shaffer. I remember Brian, George Terry and Ryan staying with me and Bridget the night before the wedding till 2 a.m. Bridget had to tell them to go back to the hotel to sleep. Well, they had to party one last time with this tomboy- single friend one last time. After all they came from Maryland and Kensus!
I remember how beautiful Francis and Run look in their tucks. Olivia and Anna look like angles with a basket of roses each and how much fun they had giving roses away.
Unlike that day, it's calm and quiet just the two of us. Nothing out of the ordinary except the day itself. Over a pot of coffee and breakfast we talked about life and the nature of the journey of life together. We laughed and we talked and laughed and talked some more. At some point I cooked meat loaf (recipe from a new friend Kendra), for lunch. Hey, I cooked on my anniversary day!
