In 7 months and 23 days I had taken one weekend off as vacation. I knew my body was getting tired but I
just did not know how to take the time off as vacation. It is now Saturday the 25th.
My nephew and neice, Luke and Alena, came all the way from Houston TX to visit us - arriving very late at night on Tuesday. I went to work on Wednesday morning while they slept in and rested. As the presbytery meeting was going to be held on my day off (Thursday), I went homeWednesday afternoon after asking my senior pastor to sign off on my having Friday as a vacation day. Wednesday afternoon, Alena and Luke and I went to Lido beach, ate pizza at the St. Armand's circle, went on to walk Siesta Key beach beach, and then went home. I cooked supper and we ate at home. Will took us all out to see the Great Gatsby movie at night. A wonderful afternoon and evening.
Thursday Will and I went to the Presbytery meeting and the kids went to play at the beach. In the evening, Will and Alena made grilled shrimp and veggies. We ate dinner at home, chattering and laughing and enjoying being together.
Yesterday was Friday and the kids and I went to the Ringling museums, touring the whole place and having a great time. We stopped at a Korean store bought stuff for tonight's Korean dinner. We came home, rested a bit and then Will took us out on a Sunset Dinner Cruise on Marina Jack II. We got home after 9 p.m. The kids retreated into their rooms. Will and I went into the pool for a cool off and small talk. What a lovely few days it has been. I can't believe it has been nearly 8 months since I took longer than 2 days off and away from work. I am ashamed of myself that I have not done this in that long. I have been abusing the temple of God. I need to take good care of my body and my health because the apostle Paul says:

I Corinthians 6:19-20
“19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? 20For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.”
Today is another day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it with my family.
Psalm 118:24
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
The visit of my nephew, Luke, and niece, Alena, is not a surprise. I knew they were coming and I had looked forward it. The surprise is that they are teaching me how to enjoy the day that the Lord has made. This surprise soothes my soul. The visit of these kids I love soothes my soul. For which I say " thanks be to God".
