Life is a journey which we begin at birth. Each of us begin our journey in a particular place and time but we all travel on the road called life which is a gift from God. On this journey each day we learn something/s hopefully including some wisdom which brings us happiness, joy and peace.

Woodford Reserve Stop
I lived in Kentucky for nearly 10 years and loved the Derby Party every year. Yet, I did not visit any of the Bourbon Distilleries. So, this time I went to visit Woodford Reserve as it is my favorite kind.
The people of Woodford Reserve were so very kind, hospitable and welcoming. The whole place was small. I learned a lot about Bourbon making so much so that I don't think I will try making any. That's a patient person's project... you wait for 8 years for the thing to turn into the tasty Bourbon. I bought Copper Mint Julep cups, 12 of them. I am ready for the next Derby party.
Did I tell you that it was Tom Marshall, one of the good men of my last church, who introduced me to Woodford Reserve years ago. One summer Sunday evening at the end of Backyard Bible Study people were talking about Bourbon and Mint Julep. I said, "what is Bourbon?" That's it. The next day on Monday there was a little brown paper bag in my mail box at the church office. In it were two little bottles of Woodford Reserve. Tom had left them for me on his way to counting the Sunday offering at the church. That was my introduction. As you may have guessed, every year that's what I use for my Mint Juleps at the Derby party. Tom is the most faithful Christian there is. He is quiet, very quiet, but with a great sense of humor. You got to know him well to enjoy his sense of humor.
Friends are gifts from God. They teach you all kinds of good stuff/lessons for life. It was mighty good to see old friends like Tom in Louisville this past week.
