Joshua our almost 16 years old nephew made this dish tonight for supper. It was most delicious.
This takes me back to Joshua's grandfather, my father who loved to cook and eat good food. He was the one that taught me how to cook. Mother rather starve than cook. They were very unusual Asian couple. On the other hand, dad was really afraid to even change a light bulb and mom was fascinated by and loved to play with electrical stuff. So, she did all of that.
Now Joshua wants to learn how to cook more dishes. As I taught him how to bake chicken breast with vegetables I am remembering my father and how he taught me cooking. Mom was the beauty queen, one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen but loved to eat raw vegetables, blanched vegetables, fruits, berries, chocolate and some sea food. She did eat some meat for the sake of us. By the arrangement of their parents, she married a food lover and he married one to whom food was not very famous.
They loved each other so very much. I don't see that many married couples who are in love so much as my parents were.
Oh, back to food, Joshua has many similar interests as his grandfather's. Blood must really speak as they say back at home. He loves math, he is a geek, he is hard working, he is funny, he is quiet, he is loving, he is gentle, he loves tennis ( dad loved Badminton), loves chess and now he wants to know how to cook. He said the same thing my father said so many many years ago, "I want to know how to cook good food, so I can eat it often". I am so amazed by some of the things Joshua now says are the same words i used to hear from my dad's voice as child growing up. Blood speaks. What goes around does come around. History repeats itself. At any rate, life is great. I am grateful to God for all of it.
Life is a journey which we begin at birth. Each of us begin our journey in a particular place and time but we all travel on the road called life which is a gift from God. On this journey each day we learn something/s hopefully including some wisdom which brings us happiness, joy and peace.
