Baking: A new adventure on the journey

Double Berry Tart
Today I baked.  Yes, I baked 2 things that are eatable and good!!!  I even made my own crust.  This is so very exciting for me.  For all the years I have lived, I had been afraid of many things.  One of them is making pie crust!  I conquered it this afternoon.  Joshua and Luke had been playing and I decided to learn to make a berry tart for them to eat at tea time.

I looked in the freezer and found no "ready to use" pie crust.   I would normally go out to the store to buy it but today I felt the courage to try it.  So, I got on the internet and find pie crust recipe.  I roughly followed it but added more butter less sugar etc.  I made it.  As you can see, it does not look as pretty as it can be but the boys ate two slices each! I love my nephews!!!

Drunken Pecan Pie
The crust recipe turned out to be for 2.  So, after tea I baked a pecan pie.  I gave a sliver to Luke and Joshua to taste.  They said it was good as well.

When Will came home at the end of the day he ate a piece of each and said - "boy! they taste good!"
What can I say, my family loves me and encouraged me in my new adventure.  I will continue.  Hopefully I will improve with more practice but who is going to eat them?  Need to find eaters........
