This is also a comfort food. We call it "khaut swe toh". In English it is a salad of plain simple egg noodles. It is one of the many common foods in our home. Most of the time we ate this dish in the middle of the afternoon or very early in the morning for breakfast. It is a very typical of Myanmar food. So very delicious and light and comforting. We ate it with a clear broth/soup. As I mentioned earlier January is a moth in which I feel home sick and try all my best to make self feel at home here in Texas. Eating this makes me feel a little less home sick. Well, needless to say my counting the points to loose the weight went out the window.
February is coming soon.
Hopefully the January blues will go away with the month January it self like it did last year.
Meantime I give thanks to God for the gift of memory. I remember my parents, I remember my siblings, I remember the smell of home while growing up. I remember voices, laughter, instructions on what to do and what not to do, I remember how beautiful my mother was, how not so handsome but how marvelous my father was, I an still feel Richard's kisses on my cheeks the morning he died, and many more.... I remember. Father was our religious teacher in those days. He taught all of us (including mother) Bible passages and Psalms weekly.
This morning Will and I sat down for our morning devotion. It so happened that today's Psalm is the 23rd which was our family Psalm which we recited every Sunday morning. God works in mysterious ways in deed. Will read it. After that I requested Will to read the next Psalm, the very last Psalm father ever taught us.
Psalm 24
1 The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
2 for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.
3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
4 Those who have clean hands and pure hearts,
who do not lift up their souls to what is false,
and do not swear deceitfully.
5 They will receive blessing from the Lord,
and vindication from the God of their salvation.
6 Such is the company of those who seek him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.*

7 Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
8 Who is the King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
he is the King of glory.
