Happy Halloween!

We sit in the living room watching Joshua giving out candies to little kids all dressed up in costumes of all sorts saying "Trick or Treat!".  Parents accompany their little kids standing a few steps behind and watch their child/children say "Trick or Treat!" with a great smile to Joshua.  He hands out candies as he says back to them, "Happy Halloween!" It is such a priceless scene for me.  In between the trick or treaters we reminisce about the long past Halloweens when he was a little boy.  It seems a so far away time in the past now.  I once was the parent who stood a few steps behind him watching him trick or treat house after house.  Life does go on and time does fly while we are living our lives.

Halloween is my favorite day of each year in this country.  As an international student for the first few years, I was very lonesome. I came to love Halloween because i saw that children dress up as different characters, knock on any door and people opened their doors and talked to the children and gave them candies.  Some neighbors opened their doors for the whole evening and even talked to one another.   It is a very friendly day in America.  Oh, yes, the parents also teach their children to say "Thank  you" as they receive their treat from each house.  What a lovely evening!  Oh, yes, adults party too.  Houses are decorated as well.  Some streets in Louisville and many other towns will have street parties and celebrate Halloween.  Neighborhood party! what a concept.  I used to attend them as well.  Fun fun fun and clear fun and friendliness in the U.S.A.

Below are some pictures of Joshua's first halloween prep/pumpkin carving party pictures:
