I have been busy learning from the chairs of the committees I am responsible for. I have been busy meeting with those I am to work very closely in caring of the sick and the weak and the home bounds. I have been busy getting my office set up ( not done yet still). I have been busy calling on those who recently lost their loved ones. I have been busy being welcomed by those who dropped by my office. I have been busy receiving gifts of basket full of goodies and beautiful flowers especially a pot of Orchid. I have been busy reading the policies and by laws etc. I have been busy attending meetings. I have been busy eating and getting to know people over meals, coffee or tea. I have been busy making new friends.
I have been busy ejoying all of the above. I told everyone who asked, that Florida is a mystery I am excited to do a lot of discoveries about. This is the land I have bearly been to and don't know much about. My journey here begins on Oct. 1st and the first of many discoveries I will enjoy is below:
Two days ago, the Rev. Dr. Margaret Towner, the first woman ever ordained in PC(USA) called to welcome me to this presbytery and ministry here. I almost fell off my chair. what an honor! And she went on to say, " I like to give a luncheon in your honor so other women clergy in the presbytery of peace river can come to meet and greet you. Tell me what day of the week is best for you?". My mouth dropped open in silent. I am humbled. I am honored. I am speechless. I thought in silent still, " Me?"
I can not wait to meet this lady.
God is GREAT!
I am grateful.
