A friend loves at all times

My friend Susan was here visiting for a few days. We had a good time. She found me doing the same sort of things, living the same kind of live at work. During her visit we laughed. We laughed at ourselves when we got lost on the road( yes, we sure got lost many times just like we did for 9 years in Louisville by which we amused our husbands to no end). In one of the times we were sort of lost, we found an art supply store. We were so happy in that store we did not have much time to go where we set out to go. One day we even went out to Richmond, TX to visit Willie. We had a good time there too. James from Australia was our guide. We talked, and talked and talked. We never ran out of things to talk about. We talked about life and sickness and death, and weddings and grand kids, about husbands, and the twins that are arriving in a few months. We ate, oh yes we even roasted almonds in the oven at night and ate them as we talked. One night we enjoyed our talk so much that we forgot to go to bed till 2 a.m. She went to church 3 times in two days. She even went to the hospice with me on Sunday after noon after attending 2 services. We came home and cooked supper wearing silly aprons and slippers. We talked, laughed and giggled as we cook. We ate in the dinning room just the two of us like two little kids playing grown ups. And more conversations just like old times. At some point we came to realized that no matter where we are friendship is the best gold in life. We thought it might feel strange to be in Texas or somewhere else but we were wrong, gladly I might add. We had a good time despite my messy house and unpacked boxes from our move. Life is good when you have a friend like Susan. Friends are bonus from God. I am reminded of a passage in the Bible, A friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17). I thank God for my friends, for Susan in particular at this time.
