December 31, 2013: Reflection on the year and giving thanks to God

Today is the last day of this year. As it is my habit, I sit and reflect on the year.  God has been good to me and to my family all through the year.  I have so very much for which to be thankful to God.  The year begins with good health for both Will and me and our family members all around the world. And it goes on with uncountable blessings from God.  I will try counting a few anyhow:

  • Good health
  • Marlene, Cherrie, and Jan
  • Churches and people to serve for each of us
  • Joshua graduated from high school and begins at the University of Louisville
  • Ziri coming home to us on holidays
  • Seeing Francis, Cat, Lilly and Emy twice
  • Visiting Wil's mother
  • Frequent communication via Skype with family in Myanmar and India
  • Even better and bigger home to live in and to practice hospitality
  • My sister LT
  • New friends
  • Kevin, for whom we prayed many times, who became world famous.
The list can go on for pages but I shall stop here this morning.

One of my favorite Bible verses was posted on his facebook this morning by Puia as follows:

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom. [Psalm 90:12]

“Kan dam chhûng nîte chhiar dàn tùr min zirtîr ang che,
Finna thinlung kan neih phah hialna tùrin …” [Sam 90: 12]

I pray and continue to pray to God to teach me to number my days so that I may gain a heart of wisdom.  I give thanks to God for all his bounty to me and I hold up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord (Psalm 116:12).  God is good all the time. Thanks be to God. Amen.
