A perfect Day Off

Exodus 20:8-11

8 Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. 9For six days you shall labour and do all your work. 10But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns. 11For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lordblessed the sabbath day and consecrated it.

So, it is today. It is Thursday every week for me- I mean my Sabbath Day.  I love it.  Today, there was nothing that needed to be done. Will and I rested in our home. We did not even see the other side of our front door.

My morning quiet time with God was very quiet and still. I am thankful to God for it. I read the Psalms as every morning.

After that...

I had a wonderful long chat with my family in the other side of the world while Will slept in.

We had breakfast at 11:00 AM. We had morning devotion past noon.  We read some more of Thomas Merton's diary. Norished spiritually. Rest. took naps.

Then I played with my little potted orchid garden while Will clean the grill. We clean our lanai and outdoor furniture.  We talked. We sat in silent. We laughed. We ate.

We had coffee and more coffee.
Will did laundry while I wrote my blog.
He vacummed the house  while I dish dishes.

We showered at 4:35 PM. We ate boiled fish for supper at 6:00 PM. I knitted a few rows on my prayer shawl while Will makes more coffee.

We sat and we wathched a movie on TV.

Thanks be to God for a real day of rest.
