Psalm 96
1 O sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
So I did. Just that. Yesterday was the first day. Yes, singing a new song to my LORD and God. This was how I did it.
- Quiet time with God in the morning.
- Reading Psalms and devotions with husband. Reading Thomas Merton's diary.
- Took the Day as Continuing Education to read a book as a preparation for the upcoming Retreat.
- Morning was difficult to discipline myself just to read.
- The control freak in me called in and talked work with my assistant.
- Made a few other caring calls to church members.
- So not much reading was accomplished in the morning.
- Stopped and cooked lunch for us both.
- Ate at the table with husband.
- Afternoon was much better in self discipline.
- I read 100 pages.
- Closed book at 5:00 PM.
- Cook dinner.
- Friends arrived at 6:30 P.M - 6 of them.
- Mostly people I don't really know well yet.
- We had a fabulous time.
- Eating.
- Talking.
- Sharing life stories.
- By evening's end, I know them much better.
That's how I sung a new Song. I now have only 75 pages or so to read. I am getting ready for the Retreat and paying full attention to the preparation.
I imagine God was pleased with me for not abusing my brain, my time and myself.
So pround of my self I am. I will continue to learn to have a better Rythm of daily life. That's my new song to sing to the LORD this year. Better care of my body, mind, and spirit.
God is good. Life is good!!!
