Will and I left our house at 8:15 to be at the Church around 8:30 AM for the all day seminar on C.S. Lewis ( 9:00 AM-4:00 PM) at the Churh.
I am not well read on C.S. Lewis.
I took my knitting basket with me. We are out of Prayer Shawls to give out.
So, I have started on a shawl a few days ago and really wanted to finish one soon.
I had the best long day in a long time.
It felt like a retreat.
I had privilledge to be quiet for the most part of 7 hours.
I loved it.
I sat down at a table with 5 other people:
listening to the speakers (Drs. Crystal and David Downning) with all my mind,
knitting a prayer shawl quietly at the same time.
During the breaks:
I talked with my neighbors getting to know them;;
one was a snow bird from CT and an Episcopalian;
one was a local Mennonite;
two were local Methodists; and
one was one of my own Church member.s
A little ecumenical table indeed!
Will sat dawn at a different table wtih other people he did not know but came to know. At lunch I went to sit and eat with him and his table mates. I met a Dutch lady there for the first time.
The whole day was very quiet and calming to my entire self. I loved every bit of it.
At 3:30 PM as the lecture was finished we went off.
I visited 2 members in 2 different hospitals:
Nancy had a successful hip replacement,
Linda was in ICU and not allowed visitors (later I learned that she is progressing),
Thelma who celebrated her 103th recently is now tired and ready to go home to God. Her mind was clear as a bell and her gretitute intact. She will be transferred to the Hospice House soon.
Then we went straight to join the Singles Dinner Fellowship at a local Pub, Pub 32. We had a good time visiting with the singles.
When we got home it had been a little over 12 hours since we left home in the morning.
A very different kind of a day! A gift from God for sure. My heart is filled with gratitue towards God who gave me this day and all it has held.
