Advent Season is coming

Today is the last of the ordinary time for this calendar year. Tomorrow is the First Sunday of Advent. Advent is a Latin word which means "Coming" or "arrival that has been awaited". So beginning tomorrow we wait for the coming of Jesus as our saviour. Known as Christmas as well. Advent is a season which includes 4 Sundays beginning tomorrow. Advent ends on Dec.25th at Jesus' birth which is called CHRISTMAS DAY. Tomorrow in churches we sing "O Come, O Come, Immanuel" and light the candle of HOPE on the Advent wreath. We are reminded that Jesus is our Hope for Salvation and God's forgiveness and life abundance. The colours of Paraments in churches will also change to Purple because it is a colour fit for Royalty. Jesus is our Royalty. Many Christian families also have an Advent wreath at home and light the candle of HOPE as a part of family devotion. Children are taught the meaning of Christmas beyond buying and getting gifts and story of Santa Claus. May we all be blessed during this Advent Season as we wait and prepare our hearts as well as our homes for the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ.
