Hope: First Sunday in Advent 2012

A new season has began a gain in our Christian Year.  Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Today we begin waiting and preparing for the arrival of our savior Jesus Christ as a child.  I was visiting a parishioner at the local hospital yesterday afternoon, overhearing the two nurses talk in the elevator about their Christmas trees and ornaments etc and thought "why?" Isn't it till already.  Well, yes.  It is time yesterday was the right day to begin Christmas decorations at home.  Our tree is still in a box.  Our house has  not sign of Christmas or Advent except a nice pot of Poinsiata brought in to us by dear friends Mary and Jerry on Friday night.  Whew! I feel better at least this is here to remind me of starting  my preparation of our home for the Lord's coming as a baby.

This morning I woke up with the scripture in my head:  This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24).  As I am getting ready to go to church I realise how much I look forward to singing, "O Come O Come Immanuel....... Rejoice, rejoice...." and  see the Candle of Hope: the first of the 4 Advent Candles on the wreath.

Yes, Jesus Christ, the HOPE of the world our HOPE for God's forgiveness and salvation is coming.
