Back to Old Hobbies

Now that I have time, "nothing but time" as my father would say, I am back to enjoying old hobbies. Painting water colours was reintroduced to me by Susan last week and sewing by Ann and Kendra yesterday. It was and still is so very exciting to sew again. As a child I had always loved to do these things. I spent the summer after 9th grade in sewing school. I had a blast sewing for my little sisters, mother and for myself. I have long forgotten how to sew. I will need to take a refresher course. The sound of the sewing machine brings me joyful memories of the past. This machine is so much smarter than me, I will have to be trained how to use it. I got it all messed up today, Will had to fix it for me. Through the sound of this new machine, I hear my mother's voice, I see her proud face wearing what I had sewed for her, I can see my little sisters dancing in the little frocks I made for them, I can see my brother telling me how he liked his shirt pockets uneven and won't let me correct one of them to match the other. At all of age 6 he proclaimed to his little friends that it was a new fashion created just for him by his big sister. What joy it is to be reintroduced to such old hobbies. I did have great people for parents. They paid for my hobbies and sent me to places of fun and learning even when I was a child in summer holidays. For such nurturing parents I give thanks to God.
